Hosts:

Richard EllerRedhawk Publications Executive Director

Richard is a historian at heart. His passion for telling stories of the past has led him to diverse projects, from Revolutionary War battles to airlines. But one thread runs constantly through his work. He wants western North Carolina to know how exceptional it is, evidenced by the people who made it happen before us. In 2017, he enticed Robert Canipe to edit a collaborative work on the 1944 Polio Epidemic and Redhawk Publications was born. Eller has pulled together a lean team of gifted individuals who have expanded the mission, but keep the essential goal in the forefront, showcasing the best for an audience that began with the Catawba Valley Community College service area and now spreads beyond. Now everyone knows.

Robert CanipeRedhawk Publications Publisher

Robert spent 25 years selling books before becoming a professor in 2004 and teaching from them. A former publisher and bookstore owner himself, he has overseen the business and publishing aspects of Redhawk Publications since its inception in 2017. He loves his job but hates to travel.

Patty Thompson – Redhawk Publications Project Coordinator

Patty has a background in academia as well as workforce development and fell into publications. Her ability to tenaciously herd projects through completion has quickly made her an asset to not only Redhawk Publications, but to our authors and just about all the folks she knows in Hickory as well as the state of North Carolina. If you have an interest in publishing with Redhawk, you will no doubt work with Patty as she is our acquisitions editor, manuscript pipeline shepherd and marketing & distribution advocate.
