Episode 64: Top 20 Writing Tips Part 3: Making Your Words Sing

Ok, so in our 4-part series, we are now to Part 3. You’ve gotten your words down, you have a draft going, and now how do you really make your words appealing to the reader and jump off the page?

Here are our 5 tips for doing just that:

  1. Capture moments, memories, conversations, a turn-of-phrase, or what your MeeMaw used to tell you.
  2. Don’t try to “write smart”–people want to feel as though they are sitting with you having a conversation, not sitting through a PowerPoint presentation
  3. Slow down.
  4. Focus on readability over correctness
  5. Punctuation is a road map, not a gatekeeper

As always, leave us a review so that more people see the podcast and get the writing support they need.
