Hosted ByDr. Shana Hartman

A podcast for inspiration, education, and activation of powerful new narratives in the world of business and life from heart-centered folks just like you.

Episode 56: What Goes In My First Chapter? Creative Ways to Begin Your Book.

If you have ever had to do any kind of planned communication whether verbally or written, you probably have had to consider how you want to begin. In today’s episode, I break down the common ways folks can begin their books, bring the reader in, and get the reader ready for the rest of the book:

  • Foreword: typically something someone else writes for you to prep the readers for the book, and brag on you a bit
  • Letter to the reader: just what it says, the author writes a letter to the reader that can feel really personal and like a warm way into the rest of the book
  • Introduction: this literally introduces readers to the book like a letter, but does so in a more formal way
  • Chapter 1jumping right in with an essential part of the book that connects to the rest of the chapters

As always, leave us a review so that more people see the podcast and get the writing support they need.
