Episode 94: Velveeta Nail Polish, Hong Kong’s Sunken Restaurant, & A Cult In Nelly’s Crib
Kathleen opens the show drinking a St. Brigid’s Irish Lager from the Tom Crean Brewery in Ireland, which she LOVES. She reviews all of the activities of her weekend playing shows at The Mirage in Las Vegas, which is one of her favorite places to perform in the country. She experienced the best Drag show brunch of her life at Senor Frog’s Drag Brunch at Treasure Island and had a complete blast watching queen Shannel and drinking mimosas with her friends Heidi and Marcia. Kathleen then took a cab to Downtown Vegas to have a few beers with Vegas Vic.
“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Tessemae’s Organic Habanero Ranch dressing, which she thinks is delicious but too thick for salad and would be a wonderful dip. She moves on to taste Combos Seven Layer Dip flavored Stuffed Snacks, which she thinks to taste a little like something you would feed to a pet ☺. She finishes her tasting with M&M’s White Chocolate Key Lime Pie flavored candy, which she thinks anyone who loves Key Lime Pie will enjoy (especially in the freezer.)
QUEEN’S COURT: Kathleen updates the Termites on the activities of the queens: Queen Tanya headlined Nashville’s Pride festival and wowed the internet with her fabulous Elvis-style jumpsuit. Cher has blown up her Twitter feed after the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v Wade, and Queen Stevie Nicks finished her Spring Tour and is also speaking out for women’s rights in the US.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on the return of Q’s creator, an anti-vaccine doctor is sentenced to prison for the Capitol riot, and Elon Musk is facing a $258B lawsuit over an alleged Dogecoin pyramid scheme.
“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of a baby woolly mammoth in the Yukon named “Nunchoga,” which is the 1st found in North America, and the world’s deepest shipwreck is discovered80 years after being sunk.
A CULT BUYS NELLY’S MANSION: Kathleen is a big fan of STL rapper Nelly, and is intrigued reading an article about the purchase of his crumbling mansion by Kingdom of God Global Church, which is considered by many to be a cult.
DEFRAUDING BASQUIAT: As Termites know, Kathleen is a massive fan of the art world, and Basquait is one of her favorite artists. She’s dismayed to read an article about a couple to try to steal a $45K from a Manhattan gallery, and an FBI raid removes 25 Basquait paintings from the Orlando Museum of Art as questions arise of the work’s authenticity.
VELVEETA CHEESE SMELLING NAIL POLISH: Kathleen loves cheese, but laughs out loud reading a news release about Velveeta cheese releasing a cheese-scented nail polish. She reminds everyone that showers are meant to prevent feet from smelling like cheese 😉
HONG KONG’S JUMBO FLOATING RESTAURANT SINKS: Kathleen is shocked to read an article outlining the activities involved in an accident that caused the sinking of Hong Kong’s iconic Jumbo Floating Restaurant when it was being towed for repairs.
RELOCATING EVEREST’S BASE CAMP: Kathleen reads an article advising that Nepal has decided to move Everest’s Base Camp due to global warming and increased human activity.
MONKEY KILLED IN CARTEL SHOOTOUT: Kathleen is saddened to read the details surrounding the death of cartel pet monkey “El Chango,” a Sicario monkey who was found with its apparent owner after a standoff between state security forces and the cartel. El Chango has been immortalized in a narcocorridos — a genre of folk songs glorifying drug kingpins, with that lyrics touch on a violent end.
WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching the new Season 6 of “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix, and “The Janes” documentary on HBO.
