Steroids, Part Time Casinos, and the Hollow Earth Theory
Kathleen opens the show showing off her new “twisty Bic candle lighter”, and a recently acquired Cher prayer candle. She ranks her cardboard friends in the pub by their outspoken nature, referring to the group as “queens” and citing Cher as the mouthiness and Dolly as the least mouthy by nature.
Kathleen reads a Dolly Parton quote involving life and horses. Kathleen moves on to tell a story about her childhood pet pony Princess.
“DRINKY THE CLOWN” WORLD: Kathleen has found a new beer to switch up to from her usual Mich Ultra and Bud Light, which she reveals to be Miller 64. She’s excited about Anheuser Busch’s announcement that they are releasing a new Nelly branded Budweiser to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of his single “Country Grammar,” since Kathleen is a big fan of Nelly’s music (and Budweiser.) She pours her beer into an Ole Smoky Moonshine glass, and describes all of the fun she’s had when visiting their tasting room in Gatlinburg, TN.
SUPER TURTLES: Kathleen does a quick review of the recent Kentucky gubernatorial debate between Mitch McConnell and Amy McGrath, not for political purposes but because she’s temporarily obsessed with McConnell’s chortle laugh during one of the exchanges between the candidates. She then moves onto another “super turtle,” telling everyone to follow actor Anthony Hopkins on Twitter because he is HIGHLY entertaining.
STEVIE NICKS PANDEMIC UPDATE: In continuing with Kathleen’s fanship of her idol Stevie Nicks, she updates listeners on the singer’s latest public stance pertaining to COVID-19 and the politics surrounding the pandemic. In a recent interview with Variety, Stevie says she would “choose to live on another planet” if Trump wins the November 2020 presidential election, citing the divisive climate that he has created in the country as her primary reason.
MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH: Kathleen compares the recent function that the White House hosted to announce Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination to the synopsisof Edgar Allan Poe’s “Masque of the Red Death.”
JOHN MCAFEE UPDATE: Kathleen provides an update on her story from Pubcast Episode 4 regarding entrepreneur John McAfee, who is now in Federal custody after years of dodging the FBI. As McAfee was also an original supporter of cryptocurrency, Kathleen also gives listeners on her own Bitcoin investment strategy.
PART-TIME CASINOS: With reduced business as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Encore Casino at Wynn in Vegas has announced that it will only operate on a four-night schedule until demand increases. Kathleen reviews her experiences gambling at Encore, and says that she prefers to be at the Mirage.
“GAS STATION or ROAD” FOOD: In maintaining her search for best not-so-nutritious fast food, Kathleen shares with listeners her review of a recent fried bologna sandwich that she had at a Georgia gas station, and provides commentary on the release of SeaPak’s Budweiser Fried Shrimp. She then critiques Jimmy Dean Biscuit Roll Ups, as shared with her by her friend and comedian Kelly MacFarland, and announces that the Girl Scouts have announced that they will release a new French Toast flavored cookie in 2021.
MOUNTAIN LION ATTACK: Kathleen discusses the recent video that went viral on social media this week of a mountain lion stalking a Utah runner, and compares it to her sister’s feral cat. She moves on to advise listeners the steps to take to survive a mountain lion attack.
THE INTERNET’S EXPERIENCE WITH STERIODS: With numerous Americans currently taking steroids to treat the effects of COVID (including the President,) Kathleen took to Twitter to describe her own experience taking steroids to treat an illness, and also reads social media responses from others who discuss their own reactions to the drugs.
YOUTUBE QUANON BAN: In continuing with her Episode 10 topic digging into the QAnon movement, Kathleen advises listeners that YouTube has followed Facebook’s lead and is banning QAnon conspiracy videos from its platform.
LAX JET PACK CASE: Kathleen walks listeners through the stories being shared by pilots at LAX regarding sightings of a person in a jet pack flying at an altitude of 6,000 feet, as well as the media coverage attempting to solve the mystery.
MICHIGAN GOVERNOR KIDNAPPING CASE UPDATE: Kathleen gives listeners an update on the motives behind the Wolverine Watchmen militia’s planning to kidnap Michigan Governor Witmer, as disclosed through interviews after the group’s capture by federal authorities.
MYSTERY OF THE WEEK: Kathleen discusses Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s mysterious 1947 encounter with a lost civilization in the forbidden land of Agartha, and the origin of the “Hollow Earth” belief. There are case notes that state that the US government knew about Agartha before Admiral Byrd discovered it. Kathleen does her best impression of the leader of the ancient beings that Byrd came in contact with, and walks listeners through a map of the forbidden land.
