Life as an Intern: Meet Nick

Here’s how the other half works. Kaitlyn had a great idea to do an intern blog, so here is my first crack at it:

Here’s my short version of my information…

Name: Nick Sugzda

Age: 23

School: Lenoir-Rhyne University

Hometown: Old Greenwich, CT

Major: Broadcast Communications

Minor: History

One Thing About Myself: Well it’s two actually. I am a huge sports fan. My two favorite teams are the New York Yankees and the New York Rangers.

I would first like to thank everyone at The Jackson Group who have been so great to me every day at work. It has been such a wonderful experience since the first second I walked in on my first day. Everyone has been so welcoming I keep asking myself, “can it really be this good?” But fortunately for me it has been a fantastic opportunity for me to work in the real world with true professionals.

My goal in this internship is to get some of the shows on The Mesh on to YouTube. To give The Mesh audience a new way to listen and eventually watch some of the programs they like. I am the lucky one who gets to give listeners their window in to The Mesh, and I’m very excited. In the coming days, weeks and months I hope to be able to give The Mesh a new personality. The listeners to this point have been just that, listeners. I hope to be able to give those listeners a new perspective on The Mesh. I hope the videos to come are able to give a unique view in to some of the shows on The Mesh. I think the audience will really like what we’re cooking up. I know I’m a big fan of “behind the scenes” work. Whether it’s a movie, a band recording an album, or performers at rehearsal, I really like getting to see how things are done. I hope to bring an exciting view in to just how much fun The Mesh really is.

Here’s some important things I’ve learned so far:

  1. – The business is about ideas. You have to be ready to be creative to really succeed.
  2. – Contrary to what I believed when I started (this is my first real office experience) work is not like going to jail. It is the exact opposite. Wednesdays and Fridays are my favorite days of the week because I know I’m coming here.
  3. – There is always something to do. When you’re 23, you have a long way to go. I have tried to absorb as much as I possibly can in my time here.
  4. – Chick Chat got its name for a reason. I was in charge of recording the most recent episode. While I can’t get in to specifics, rules are rules, let’s just say I heard things that people of my gender don’t hear every day.

That’s all for now. I am going to get to work on getting some shows video ready. Be on the look out in the coming days and weeks for updates on the video podcasts.
